Hand painted prints

I have been inspired by the colours, shapes and textures in my photographs to create these hand painted fabric samples.

I intend to create a weave using fabric samples, wire, wool and my fishing nets.

After a few weeks of unsuccessful research and advice from my tutor I have decided to look back at my original ideas and concepts and take my project down a different route.

I found the concept of ‘Fishermen’ to have the most potential. I realised when exploring this theme I needed to be careful that I stayed away from the typical nautical stripes and anchors.

I found the most inspiration from researching images of fishing nets, the patterns and textures within the images really inspired me.

Unsuccessful research

I'm really struggling to find any artists who have used Wellies as their theme! Not surprised really.

 There seem to be hundreds of pictures of brides in wellies!?

And masses of pictures where people have chosen to use their wellies as plant pots rather than footwear ( I don't blame them!)

I quite like the look of wellies as plant pots, I'm sure these images could be turned into some really detailed, colourful embroided pieces.
